Frequently Asked Questions
What does a move actually cost?
It comes down to how much you have and how tough the access is, but local jobs start at $135 an hour for a two-person crew and a loaded truck. You approve an itemized written estimate before anyone lifts a box, and you can lock a not-to-exceed cap so the signed figure is your ceiling. Long hauls are priced on weight and mileage.
When does the clock start?
Billing begins when we get to work at your door, and once the first hour is in we switch to per-minute, so you are never bumped up to the next full hour. We spell out how drive time works and your crew’s rate before we begin.
Can the final number change on me?
Hourly jobs settle on the time actually worked, and you sign off on the estimate before we lift a thing. Want a hard ceiling? Ask for a written cap, we absorb any overage past it, so the figure you sign is the most you will pay.
Is there a deposit?
Only a small, refundable one to hold the date, and it comes off your final total. Give us 48 hours notice and you get it back in full. Every term lands on paper the moment you book.
How do I settle up?
Payment happens after the work is done, never up front. Card, check, or cash all work, and you approve the final total on site before the crew heads out.
Should I tip the crew?
Never required, and it is never printed on the invoice. People who want to usually leave 10 to 15 percent for the crew to split, cash or card, but that call is entirely yours.
Is there anything you can’t take?
Hazardous items stay behind, propane, paint, chemicals, ammo, along with perishables, houseplants, and pets. Give us a heads-up on anything oversized or high-value so the right crew and equipment show up.
Are you a real licensed mover?
Yes. Movers Anonymous is a licensed, insured California household-goods carrier, and your belongings ride with our own crew the whole way, never a broker. Ask about our authority or coverage anytime and we will lay out your valuation choices before you commit.
What if a piece gets damaged?
Padding and wrap keep it rare, but if it happens we note it on site and open the claim that same day. Before the move we walk you through how basic and full-value coverage differ, so a claim never catches you off guard.
How early should I lock a date?
A week or two ahead handles most local jobs. Summer, month-end, and long hauls fill fast, so aim for three to four weeks then. Last-minute dates open all the time, though, a quick call never hurts.
Can you deal with hills, stairs, and building rules?
That is home turf for us. We map Berkeley’s grades and one-way blocks, book the elevator, secure a parking permit, and file the building COI ahead, so the day never stalls waiting on paperwork.
Do you move pianos, safes, and heirlooms?
Yes, and by people trained for it. Uprights, grands, gun safes, antiques, and framed art get the correct board, straps, and padding, plus a built-to-fit crate when the piece earns one.
Can you pack for me?
As much or as little as you want. Go hands-off with a full pack, or have us box just the kitchen, the art, and the electronics. We bring real materials and label by room so unpacking is painless.
Do you go out of state?
We do, on our own truck with our own crew from start to finish. No brokers, no tipping your load into someone else’s trailer, and a delivery window you can plan your week around.
Can you hold my things in storage?
Yes. The facility is clean and secure, every item lands on an inventory, and we move it in and out for you, whether the gap is a couple of weeks or most of a year.
What if the day runs long or it rains?
Bay Area weather does not stop us, and floor runners plus pads keep everything protected. Because hourly jobs bill on real time, we flag a running-long job early, and a signed cap keeps the end-of-day total honest.
Can I move or cancel my date?
Of course. Give us 48 hours and your deposit comes back in full. The complete cancellation terms are written into your booking, so nothing is left to guesswork.
